1. Making the appointment

2. Preparing and Confirming Documents
Before leaving, make sure you have all your documents:

2. Appropriate forms and supporting documents
3. Application Cover
4. Employer letter




3. Travel Arrangements

4. Parking by the Border
On the day of your appointment, you will drive to the U.S./Mexico border. Before entering Mexico, however, you will exit the 5 freeway at the “Camino de la Plaza 1-A” off-ramp. Photographs of the freeway exit are in the adjacent middle column.

After exiting the freeway, you will find the parking lot past a Duty free store. Photographs of the parking lot are in the far right column.

5. Bank

Once in Mexico, you will have to pay a visa application fee of $100 at any Banamex bank.

The Banamex bank closest to the Consulate is located at:

6. Consulate
Be prepared for a lengthy wait at the U.S. Consulate. Prior to entering the Consulate, you will stop at a security checkpoint. Please do not bring any electronic devices with you. Such devices include CD players, cell phones, IPODS, laptop computers, etc. Once inside the Consulate, you will provide your personal information and then interview with a U.S. Consular Officer.

7. Time in between
After finishing your interview at the Consulate, you will have to wait three to five hours before you can pick up your visa. In the meantime, if you would like to shop or sightsee in Tijuana, you should visit “Revolucion” avenue. If you would like to rest, you can book a room at "Hotel County Club," a hotel located within walking distance of the U.S. Consulate.

8. Picking up the Visa

At 3:00, we will meet outside the U.S. Consulate (Avenida Tapachula # 96, Colonia Hipódromo, Tijuana, Baja California, México) to pick up your visa.
Once you receive your passport MAKE SURE all your information is CORRECT:
1. Name
2. Date of birth
3. Date of entry and date of departure

9. Re-entering the US

Before re-entering the U.S., you will need to obtain a new I-94 card at the U.S./Mexico border.
Make sure all information on your new I-94 is correct:
1. Name
2. Date of birth
3. Date of entry and date of departure

Once you obtain a new i-94 card, we will cross the bridge above the border building and re-enter the U.S.
